Resistance to injustice continues in many places in Florida. Religious organizations are involved. Today, we’ll prepare for Indigenous Peoples Day and Cuban Independence Day. Marigolds from local gardens will appear.

Rev. Charles S. McKenzie Jr. is an ordained minister, educator, and longtime civil rights advocate. A graduate of Bethune-Cookman with a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy, he currently teaches in Manatee County and serves as Florida Coordinator for Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow-PUSH Coalition. His own experiences with hardship inspired a lifelong commitment to advocating for underserved, exploited, and neglected communities.
